Healthy Living

Our health is influenced by the choices we make and the conditions in the places where we live, learn, work, worship, and play. The Phelps/Maries County Health Department is dedicated to protecting and improving the health of every person in our community. When we all work together, we can create communities where healthy living is the easy choice and is available to everyone.

Outpatient Lab Services

We offer reduced-rate laboratory services through LabCorp.  Lab fees vary from test to test.  A $30.00 lab draw fee is in addition to the cost of labs needed.  Lab services are not billed through insurance.  Payment can be made using cash, check, or card (a $3.00 fee is collected and retained by the card processing company).

A physician order and appointment is required.  Orders can be faxed to (573) 458-6060 or hand-delivered to the office.

Results will be received by the patient through creation of a LabCorp account.  It is the patient's responsibility to share results with their ordering physician.

Disease Prevention

Our nurses follow up on disease reports from schools, doctors, and hospitals. We are like disease detectives, investigating how a person got sick and who else could be at risk so we can keep diseases from spreading in our community.

To protect yourself, your family, and people in our community that are at higher risk of getting very sick,

  • wash your hands often with soap and water,

  • stay up to date on your immunizations, including a seasonal flu shot each year,

  • keep a distance of at least six feet from people who are sick, and

  • stay home if you are sick.

We're working with you to assure extra protection to infants, pregnant women, senior adults, and people with compromised immune systems - protection only a healthy community can provide.
